Get ready to hone your cybersecurity skills, because Hack The Box, the leading cybersecurity upskilling, certification and talent assessment platform, is back with another exciting global Capture The Flag (CTF) competition. This time, it’s designed specifically for corporate teams, aiming to enhance their defensive and offensive cybersecurity capabilities.
Scheduled to run from July 14 to July 16, 2023, the competition features an array of offensive and defensive cybersecurity challenges, making it an invaluable resource for cybersecurity teams eager to fortify their skills amidst the growing number and sophistication of cyber threats. As we know, the rate of cyberattacks increased by 7% in the first quarter of 2023 compared to 2022, amplifying the complexity of the cyber threat landscape.
To combat this, Hack The Box has devised this engaging global competition, facilitating cybersecurity professionals to learn and apply the latest techniques against real-world scenarios. Businesses now more than ever need agile cybersecurity teams capable of staying one step ahead of cyber threats, boasting a broad range of skills in both offensive and defensive domains.
The competition takes a unique twist, as competitors are thrust into a dystopian future racing to colonize Mars. With the theme, “The Great Escape,” participants will compete to establish Mars as a democracy by hacking into the opponent’s infrastructure, combating the adversary’s wish to occupy the planet for elites alone.
In preparation for the event, participants will have access to interactive workshops covering defensive security tactics before the CTF begins. Over 30 challenges covering various domains such as web, cloud, pwn, crypto, forensics, reversing, and machines will be part of the competition. This not only encourages interactive learning experiences but also allows corporate IT and security teams to sharpen their hacking skills, showcase their expertise, and compete globally.
“Participating in this competition offers a unique opportunity for IT and infosec teams, interns, and new hires to enhance their cybersecurity skills. A business’s cybersecurity relies as much on offensive and pre-emptive strategies as it does on those teams that respond to cyberattacks once they occur. This inclusive approach to cyber training ensures cyber professionals are as prepared as possible in a perpetually changing threat landscape,” said Haris Pylarinos, CEO at Hack The Box.
Pablo Ruiz Encinas, a Security Consultant at Mnemonic, who participated in the 2022 Hack The Box Business CTF, had positive remarks about his experience: “It was fun as well as rewarding to spend that weekend working together and sharing knowledge. I will definitely join for similar events in the future.”
Even corporate giants like Toyota found value in the event. Gabe Lawrence, VP of Information Security Cyber Protection at Toyota, commented: “Hack The Box has helped us learn to address the stigma associated with cybersecurity and prepare for any situation by enhancing our skills and knowledge base.”
With a 75% YoY team participation increase from 2021 to 2022 and over 500 teams already signed up for the 2023 competition, the demand for immersive team learning is evident. If you want to join HTB’s Business CTF 2023: The Great Escape, corporate teams can register for free here.
